Work Info
I have owned and operated my own computer consulting business for the last 10
years. Now it's called Jonathan Wentz
Computer Consulting.
I worked for the Department of
Microbiology (who's website I had nothing to do with) and the
Department of Environmental and Molecular
Toxicology (who's new website I did) as IT Administrator while at State. Now
that I've graduated, I've moved back to Charlotte and I'm consulting again and
working full time at Sunbelt Rentals.
Future
Unlike most Computer Science majors I know, I don't want to be a programmer or a
web developer (though I get roped into doing both more than I like). I do want
to be a network administrator and eventually have my own network consulting
business.
Background
I come from an upper-middle class family. Both Jennifer, my sister, and I are
adopted (from different families). My parents got divorced when I was 5 (which I guess
is pretty common). Both got remarried eventually, but I grew up living with my
mom. She was diagnosed with a brain tumor when I was in 7th grade and passed
away when I was in 11th grade. I went to Myers Park High School. (Mustangs
Forever!) It was always expected that I would attend college. State was the only
place I applied: I got accepted, and didn't apply anywhere else. It was a good
decision, I'd say. I've got a wonderful girlfriend, Kate, who's put up with me
for almost 4 years! And a very cute black lab named Lise (pronounced 'lease'). Life is pretty good.
Strengths
I'm good at diagnosing and solving problems, thinking logically, and
troubleshooting. I am also good a using semi-colons; it's a skill not many have!
Weaknesses
I tend to talk a lot and give people too much information (see above). I am also
a perfectionist; you should see my kitchen! (Todd, what did I tell you about
loading the dishwasher? NO!)
